Wintersday SD ~ Survivor made Easy
For those of you who have had a hard time achieving the Survivor title, nows the time. Create a ranger in NF, soon as you can pick a secondary profession, go smite monk. Damage from rangers pew pew is kinda lacking at low levels.
Buy an Elite monk tome, and either SoJ, or RoJ your way to level 10, then jump to EoTn, be carefull of the second quest where you get attacked by Charr from three directions. Once you have Snowball Domination your in the clear, well if your carefull you are.
I suggest playing ranger in SD before you try this if you can, and make sure you have some summoning stones on you just incase things get hairy. You shouldnt need the stones, its just some times when your team doesnt have yellow snow, or your necro isnt pro or dies before getting "Blues" off, things can get kind of hairy. Always have your guild window open so if you need to zone out, do so with the "Guild Hall" tab. If you try to x out, depending on lag and your connection, you can easily die this way.
I found runs easiest when the necro had a level 20 pet, help hold the mob together longer while you barrage the diseased foes to death.
Dont forget to use yellow snow or cripple when you can, but your teamates do this for you.
If you find yourself in a jam, retreat to the steps of EoTn, and you can usually kite away the rest of the group.
If you dont have Party, Drunkard, you can use this as an alternative to Guild Hall jumping as you farm the SD quest.
This only works durring Wintersday, so make a ranger and get to EoTn.
PS There's finnaly a good use for all those Summoning Stones youve been hoarding.

You can use summoning stones in SD?
I could have sworn that it told me I couldn't. I had the 1x Frosty and 1x Grench stone that I wanted to get rid of, and I seem to recall I tried to get rid of them during SD, and it said "lol no".

No need for an elite monk tome to get to lvl10. Go to dalessio seabord outpost, any empty district. Stand by the bridge and the first wave will give you xp (with 0 chance of death ). Once to first wave is killed, swap to another empty district and rinse &repeat. But yeah sd is good for survivor

I actually used quite a few summoning stones in the last 3 days, The Golem ones from the MoX quest work well, and the Ooze one is pure pownage.
If anything the stones make the run go soooo much faster.
And to the one necro that called me a noob for using Summoning Stones in the SD quest...I bet i have more stacks of presents than you.
Signed.. A fifteen thousand hour's played Guild Wars n0ob.
3 day legendary survivor
Ciao

They all work in SD, including Frosty and Mischievous. I just wouldnt suggest using the merchant ones, save those for long farms.

This isn't exactly the safest or easiest or fastest method of getting survivor but I think it's worth it because of the amount of money you get from it. If you die in the middle then you at least made a lot of money and you can get your new character back easily to eotn.

I got my Legendary Survivor as well from SD I used my two accounts, so I didn't have to worry about the necro messing things up :P It was really easy exp, gold, gifts and tonics, a great way to earn your title!
My best advice: Just try to keep focused! SD gets boring fast and if you stop paying attention that's when your going to die.

Ye you have to pay attention for sure and you can use a nec hero instead of a human which I think is safer if you know how to use it

That's 250 damage every 3/4 second.
That is if there are 4 enemies near your target.
You could, but it wouldn't have the same results.

Took me 3 days total from character creation.
I'm sure it can be done faster, but i Created character and rushed to EoTn on day one, then took a day and a half doing the 300 runs (aprox) needed to max this title.
300 runs
2 min a run
30 runs an hour
10 hours
This took me 2 days and ended up with 150k cash, 2,500 Gifts and 1,250 Tonics
Estimated total value G=200 T=100 is 775k
Not bad for a 3 day Farm Fest
With the summoning stones its under 2 min(and a skilled partner) soon as quest ends you both zone to designated district reforming party by click adding player "When Ready"
By this there is no typing between players, one has quest window open, and when the other player click adds to party, you know they have the quest and no talking is involved, you accept and hit enter.
I know people are doing this with hero's but i found the survival rate higher, i had to zone out 5-10 times out of the whole 300. Plus i smoke at my computer while the dialog text is running..i like it, gives me time to chat and sip coffee. Finding the right skilled player that likes long grindfest is key, add them to your friendslist. I had the same necro's pm'ing me for more runs cause of how fast they were and no fail.
Almost as fun as farming armbrace's..
*267 actual runs..but math is easier.

Uhh...When was achieving Survivor a challenge? Has anyone heard of Kilroy? Survivor in one day without a hassle. Start From Factions do all the missions and quests and whatever which are easy and you shouldn't die unless your stupid and aggro too many mobs and when you get to Kaineng your already level 10, so get to boreal and hopefully your friends and your guild aren't jerks and will run you to EoTN and than from there to Gunnars. Not a hard run either.

It was for me.I only tried it once before this wintersday, on an assasin..died in a dungeon. Assasin not best character to achieve survivor on me thinks. The second time was with my new Necro in her Lich armor. I Bloodmaged my way to EoTn and then wintersday came...Everyone started raving about SD. So thinking to myself, "Hey this is good way to get Survivor, you dont die in Wintersday quests" You can imagine how stupid i felt when i typed /deaths and knowing what an idiot i am for not looking up Snowball Dominance on the wiki.
Well least i have a smoking hot necro now, with one death. So after the furiating stupidity i hop on my main ranger and start messing with SD. You dont need cons, you dont need stones..you can run this mission pretty easily with a little practice.
So now after loosing my 2nd survivor i am "challenged" to take my survivor back from SD. I buy a new character slot and make a new ranger, this time female(Lich armor + Bow = zoinks) I blast her to kamadan, pick up caster VS and Torm Cmmd Shield, head for Sunspear Great Hall, get quests, head back for the Secondary profession (cause bows suck in PvE) and run a smite bar we used to roll SoO in. Get ferried over to docks(LA+Cantha) get Istani armor, go get my two 15 att point quests and solo smite my way to 10 with a vengance. By the time i got to EoTn my guild wanted me for a DoA run.
That did it for the day, i woke up went to dunkin doughnuts got Two large coffee's(with Turbo Shot) came home and grinded SD till i couldnt see straight. Day three same as day two but with less vigor, finish the title, Text online GF to come see sexy new title i did in 3 days..as always she says "You are crazy" Thats funny, my new rangers name is "Tu Sie Pazzo"
Italian for..YOU ARE CRAZY.
Challenging?
I think so
Crazy?
I know so
